A second collection will be taken to support those living in a mountainous area of India. We will be welcoming Fr. Tom Rayar who will be presiding at all Masses at Mary Mother on August 21 - 22. Fr. Rayar is from India and is the pastor at St. Margaret Mary in Golden Valley. He’s making an appeal on behalf of the mission of the diocese of Ootacamund.
The diocese was formed in Tamil Nadu State in India in 1955 by Pope Pius XII. There are 85,000 Catholics, who represent 5% of the total population. Approximately two-thirds of them are daily wage laborers and farmers, and 150 priests and 415 religious serve about 70 parishes and 22 high schools in the diocese. The money received from mission appeals will fund the missionary works of the tribal people and their children’s education.
This appeal was suspended last year due to COVID, please give generously to help our brothers and sisters in Christ.
