Thanksgiving Baskets 2020

Update November 4

Final Weekend to be part of Mary Mother’s
2020 Thanksgiving Dinner Outreach!

It’s not too late to join our parish as we reach out to families in our community who need help in order to celebrate a festive Thanksgiving holiday.   In recent years, we have been able to assist over 450 families! So far this year, we have collected donations sufficient to purchase 425 Cub Foods gift cards. Mary Mother parishioners are astounding!  Thank you for answering this need and for your dedication to this ministry!

We are in need of 200 greeting cards with envelopes to deliver all these gift cards. You can help by purchasing or making very simple Thanksgiving cards and putting in the boxes in the Atrium this weekend.

We are still accepting donations, including monetary gifts, gift cards and greeting cards through this weekend.  All donations must be dropped off at the office or placed in the donation boxes at the back of church by Monday, November 9.

Thanksgiving Baskets 2020

In order to assure everyone's health and safety, this year's Thanksgiving Baskets will be very different. Instead of physical baskets of food, we are collecting for CUB Foods gift cards to distribution to our neighbors in need.

Ways to Help -  On or before November 9

  1. Monetary donation. This is the preferred method of donating to the 2020 Thanksgiving Basket project, and you will receive a record of your donation on your year end tax statement from Mary Mother. For a donation by check, write “November Outreach” in the memo line and drop the check in the donation boxes in the Church, bring it to the Parish Office, or mail it to Mary Mother. You may donate any amount online using a credit card, by selecting “November Outreach” on our “Give” section of the website, www.mmotc.org.
  2. Sponsor a family by donating a CUB Foods gift card. You may purchase and donate Cub Foods gift card(s) in the amount of $50, and place in the donation boxes in the Church or in the donation drop slot at the Parish Office. $50 covers the cost of a Thanksgiving meal for a family of four. Please note that due to IRS guidelines, the Parish can not credit your yearly Parish giving record for the purchase of CUB gift cards.
  3. Thanksgiving card: Reach out to a family this Thanksgiving by making a Thanksgiving card. We will be collecting homemade cards to carry our warm wishes and prayers to families along with the CUB gift card. Your family is invited to make a card – or cards - to send blessings on another family this Thanksgiving. You can make it as simple or as decorative as you wish. Use “handprint turkeys”, doilies and lace, stickers, plenty of colored markers or crayons – orange, green, brown. All those things that remind you of our traditional “baskets.” You may also donate purchased greeting cards! Please, include an envelope with the card, but do not seal it. Cards can be dropped at the Parish Office or in the collection baskets in the Atrium. Please do NOT put CUB gift cards in the Thanksgiving greeting cards.
  4. Pray: For the family receiving this help.

 THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
