Come, Reach for the SUMMIT!

Summit: the Who, the What, the Where, the How and the Why.

The Who: Summit is for our post confirmation youth who are looking for the next step. It is for those who are looking to dive deeper in their faith, and share it with others.

The What: Summit is the destination we are striving to reach. Summit leaders are invited to take this journey with us as we climb to the Summit where we meet Christ face to face. This year we will be exploring the life of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, and following his motto “Verso L’Alto” meaning “towards the heights”. Summit leaders will continue to learn how to pray, discover and use their gifts, know that their testimony will lead their fellow peers on this faith journey. Some of the goals for the Summit leaders are to use what they have learned and then apply the ability to lead games and small groups, give talks and share their story, lead music for prayer, and grow in their own relationship with God.

The Where: Summit will be meeting at Mary Mother in the youth room. For the first session, we will be meeting on Sunday night at 7:30 pm on September 25th.

The How: During Sunday nights, we will be doing formational pieces, prayer and fun. Everything that is being learned on Sundays will be incorporated throughout the year. Summit leaders will have the opportunity to help on Wednesday nights during Faith Formation for the middle school program. They will have the ability to lead games and small groups, and start preparing and giving talks during those nights. Throughout the year, there will also be retreats that the leaders will help plan and lead.

The Why: Summit is a time to come as you are. It is a time to grow in your faith no matter where you are on this journey. Everyone will be in a different spot going through different struggles, but the end goal is the same for all. This is an opportunity to grow in fellowship and call others to this great adventure to reach the Summit.

“The faith given to me in baptism suggests to me surely: by yourself you will do nothing, but if you have God as the center of all your action, then you will reach the goal.” –Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati
