Serving our Community

‘For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.’

– Matthew 25:35-36

The work of May, Mother of the Church goes far beyond our doors.  Our parish and parishioners are making a difference in the community we live in.  We actively support a variety of ministry’s through prayer, coordinating volunteer efforts, use of our facilities, and direct missionary activities.

We partner with community outreach and justice organizations to assist not only members of our parish, but to all.

Mary, Mother of the Church encourages parishioners and staff to participate in Loaves and Fishes. You may prepare or serve food to the hungry at St. Stephen’s in Minneapolis, every third Monday of each month. The group serves 300-400 people every month.

You can sign-up at the Information Booth in the Atrium. Food prep begins at 2:45 p.m. and serving begins at 5:15 p.m., For more information about cooking or serving, call us at 952-890-0045.

Volunteers pick-up and sort rolls and bread donations from Panera Bread every Monday evening and sort the donations for distribution Tuesday mornings.

Donations are put on carts near the Parish Office. Parishioners and community members are invited to take a package free of charge.

In November of each year, our Parish comes together to provide Thanksgiving baskets to families in need. We partner with several area nonprofit organizations who distribute these baskets to needy families. Volunteers assemble baskets at home and our children and youth Faith Formation families come together one evening to assembly baskets from donated food items.
God, author of all life,
bless, we pray, this unborn child;
give constant protection

and grant a healthy birth
that is the sign of our rebirth one day
into the eternal rejoicing of heaven…
~ excerpt from the Prayer of Blessing

Every child should have a safe place to sleep.  Our Crib ministry is available to provide brand new cribs for qualified families.  Additional resources such as diapers and baby wipes are also available.

Diaper and baby wipe donations can be dropped off in the gathering space in the church. If you would like to help support the crib ministry, please contact pastoral care.

If you need diapers, baby wipes or a crib please contact pastoral care or the parish office at 952-890-0045.

Open Arms
Each week volunteers from Mary Mother’s Open Arms ministry deliver a week’s worth of frozen meals to people living with cancer or chronic illness. The meals are prepared at the Open Arms kitchen and delivered to our church each Wednesday at 10:30 am.

Each volunteer driver takes meals to two or three people in Burnsville, Apple Valley, or Savage. We need more drivers and would welcome you to our team. For more information, contact us or call the parish office at 952-890-0045
