Year 1 - Small Groups

Year One - Small Groups

Live Jesus ... in Small Groups

  • Foster personal relationships
  • Build community
  • Form disciples

What is a Small Group:

· Small groups are the foundation to build our community and provide parishioners with formation to become “joyful missionary disciples of Christ.”

· Regular 1.5-hour meetings with an emphasis on prayer and authentic, community-building to encounter Christ

· 6-12 people in each group

Types of Small Groups:

· Co-Ed

· Divorced & Separated

· Married Couples

· Men’s

· Women’s

· Young Adults

What happens at a Small Group Meeting:

· Praise of God – Focus on God: Vocal prayer helps us express praise well. The time of praise at a small group meeting helps us all rejoice in the presence of the living Christ and bond with one another.

· Personal Sharing – Focus on My Awareness of God: Members may share their answers to these questions, "What has God done for me this past week?" and "What did I do for God this past week?"

· Teaching – Forming Our Minds: A teaching will be shared that is aimed at helping all present grow in understanding of the Mass and Eucharist to stimulate spiritual growth.

· Discussion about the Teaching – Impacting Our Hearts: The group leader will facilitate a discussion about the teaching and how it applies to life experiences. All are encouraged to share and be respectful of allowing others to share as well.

· Announcements: Announcements are focused on ways the small group can connect with and serve the parish.

· Intercessions: In this time of prayer, members are encouraged to voice any prayer requests they wish to share about their family, community, those who do not know Jesus or His Church, etc.

Why should I join a Small Group?

    • "It's the highlight of my week" - MMOTC participant
    • “... thought my religion and prayer life was something to be done in private. Wow! ...makes our faith more powerful.” - MMOTC participant

We invite all parishioners, regardless of if you were involved in a Year One small group or not, to consider joining a small group for Year Two that focuses on the Eucharist.

Join a Small Group!

Meet with fellow parishioners to pray, learn, and build an authentic community centered on Christ.

If you have any questions, or you want to learn about how to become a small group leader, contact Tami Richardson: trichardson@mmotc.org.
