Prayer Shawl Ministry

Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Prayer Shawl Ministry began at Mary Mother in 2007, with just three women. Now, there are more than two dozen parishioners involved in this ministry. They meet once a month to combine their love of knitting, crocheting, and quilting with prayer. The shawls, squares, baby blankets, and quilts they create are given to people in the community experiencing sadness, loneliness, challenge or joy.  Illness, Death of a loved one, Military Families, Celebration of birth, Baptism, Wedding

You can be a part of Prayer Shawl Ministry by: Knitting, Crocheting, Weaving, Quilting. If you don’t knit, you can make a donation and/or make cards to accompany shawls.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets the second Monday of each month from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.

“We went back to the university to see the doctor about a month ago and he said I will never get any better and could just keep getting worse. I told him, I needed a miracle and he agreed. Maybe this  prayer shawl is a path to that miracle.”

“Thank you so much for the  beautiful, pink prayer shawl. It is so soft, I know the baby will love it and we will both appreciate all the prayers that come with it.”

“What a wonderful gift — I will    cherish it always and wrap it around me and hold God close when I feel chilled and scared of the journey ahead of me.  I begin chemo treatments next week.”
